Jon Rahm finished the 2016 competition in eighth place in the World Cup. To put things into perspective, the results did not do justice to the Spanish duo’s performance. Rahm and Rafa Cabrera Bello stood out with flying colors throughout the entire week, they played a solid game of golf and just a few details, apart from the stratospheric performance by Denmark, kept them from being in the running for the victory.

Rafa and Rahm started out leading the tournament with a splendid first foursome round of 69 shots. Just one bogey on the card and four birdies bumped the Spanish golfers up to first place after a very tough day due to the intense wind that was blowing across the Kingston Heath Golf Club course in Melbourne.

The second day of four-ball, another good round, a few more birdies would have been nice, especially on the par 5s, in order to get a little bit closer to Denmark. Soren Kjeldsen and Thorbjorn Olesen shot a historic 60, the lowest in the World Cup since it started in 1953. Spain, with 67, gave up some ground but was still in the fight.

On Saturday they played foursomes again, but faced with another difficult day. There wasn’t as much wind, but there were a few strong spells and playing long distances was tough. Rahm and Rafa survived with a 73 with room to maneuver on Sunday.

The last day, four ball again, 66 shots. A notable card, but insufficient in a day in which many birdies were made. The par 5s caused the Spanish golfers lose a lot of ground as well. In any case, Rahm and Rafa’s overall performance was quite remarkable.

Jon played with his good friend and colleague again from the University of Arizona, Ben Shur, as caddie. Rahm and Rafa worked well together and showed that they make a good, fearsome team every time they have the opportunity to play together, why not, for example, in the next Ryder Cup in France.

Jon’s next tournament will not be until 2017. He’ll start the year off with the Career Builder Challenge from January 19th to 22nd in California.

Jon Rahm will play in the last tournament of the season this Thursday morning. A fantastic event for an unforgettable year. Not even in his wildest dreams could the golfer from Barrika have imagined defending the Spanish flag in the World Cup in his first year as a professional. But that’s how the year unfolded and was well-earned, the classifications are established based on the world ranking.

The World Cup will be held on the Kingston Health and Golf Club course in Australia, on the outskirts of Melbourne, an area with extraordinary golf courses known as the Sandbelt. Rahm will be paired with Rafa Cabrera Bello, without a doubt one of the best golfers in the world in the current season. The Canary Island native played in the Olympic Games and in the Ryder Cup. One couldn’t ask for much more after such a dreamlike year.

It would be the highest honor for Rahm as well as Cabrera Bello to take home the win in the World Cup and to continue with the special romance Spain has with this competition. It has four titles and is only topped in records by the US, light years away from the rest, and South Africa, having won on five occasions.

The tournament format is by pairs. The first and third rounds are played in a foursome format (alternating shots), while the third and fourth are four ball (each golfer with their own balls). Spain’s pair is a sure-fire guarantee to make fans happy this week. Nothing would make Jon happier who, not to forget, was already world champion. “For me it’s an honor and I’m very proud to defend Spain once again as a professional after having done it as an amateur in almost every category”, Rahm proclaims.

The PGA Tour has ended for Jon Rahm in 2016. The Basque golfer finished the year out with the OHL classic at Mayakoba, a tournament with which he has a very special relationship because it was where he made his debut in the American tour. However, the week didn’t go as well as the golfer from Barrika had hoped for.

He started off with three good rounds of 67, 69 and 69 shots, all under par and below 70 shots. A good rhythm, although the playing conditions were very good and he needed to accelerate his game in order to reach the top. Rahm, faithful to his style, went all out in the last round but this time it didn’t turn out so well. He shot a 73 and fell back quite a bit in the rankings, finishing in 50th place.

Precisely, that final round of 73 shots broke an extraordinary stretch of 25 consecutive rounds at par or under par. He hadn’t lost against the course since the last round in the Royal Troon Open Championship in the PGA Tour.

Thus, Rahm kicked the season off with three tournaments, having made three cuts, two top 15s and 45th place in the FedEX Cup. A good way to get the year started. Now, he’s got all five senses ready to put to work in the World Cup, which will be held next week in Australia. Rahm will defend the Spanish flag with Rafa Cabrera Bello. Both golfers are looking for that extra push to a sensational season thus far.

Rahm is landing on familiar territory. Without a doubt, the tournament Rham controls best in the American tour, it will be his third appearance at Mayakoba. In fact, it all started here. Here is where he made his PGA Tour debut in 2014. It was his initiation. He missed the cut by one shot.

He also played in it last year, still as an amateur. He finished in tenth place, showing the world what he was made of as a golfer. It’s been two years since he started, but anyone would say it feels like it was just yesterday. Rham’s career took off running. Everything that’s happened since that Fall in 2014 has been good and positive.

It’s a special week for Rham, not only because he’ll be playing in his first PGA Tour tournament, but also the Spanish golfer from Barrika will be celebrating his 22nd birthday this Thursday. There’s no better gift than a good performance at Mayakoba and, why not, a win. Jon, desde luego, faithful to his style, doesn’t count anything out before starting a tournament.

Jon will play in the first round this Thursday at 6:10 pm, Spanish time. And the second on Friday at 1:40 pm. He’ll play with Tony Finau and Billy Horschel.

Rahm will play in the second tournament of the American tour season with the objective of maintaining those good vibes, demonstrated not even two weeks ago in the opening tournament of the season, when he finished in fifteenth place in the Safeway Open held in California. He’ll play this Thursday at 1:15 pm, local time, eight hours later in Spain. He’ll play with Marin Laird, winner of the 2009 edition and Korean golfer Seung Yul Noh.

The two key components on the Las Vegas course are that it’s almost 1,000 meters above sea level, which means controlling the ball’s trajectory, most of all with the irons, will mean back to the basics. And the other important factor is to keep the anxiety levels under control. It’s a course that generally produces low scores, with lots of birdies and it’s very easy to take on the added stress of the pressure of not starting off with a high accuracy level.

Another interesting fact about the tournament is that it’s where Tiger Woods took home his first victory in the PGA Tour back in 1996. A tournament with history.Las Vegas, the birdies and Tiger Woods’s debut

Jon Rahm finished in a valiant fourteenth place in the John Deere Classic, PGA Tour tournament held on TPC Deere Run course in Silvis, Illinois.

The Spanish golfer shot below a 70 in all four rounds (69-66-69-67) and ended up with an accumulated total of 13 under par, just one shot from the top ten and two from fifth place. Once again, the golfer from Barrika battled it out for the top positions throughout the entire week.

With this top 15, the fourth this season so far (Jon started out from the OHL Classic on, around November last year), he has already surpassed the million dollar milestone. On top of that, he did it in record time, as a professional he’s only been playing for less than two months and six tournaments total.

Another outstanding performance for Rahm who will compete in the last tournament of the regular PGA Tour season this week, the Wyndham Championship. If he takes home the win he will make it into the FedEX Cup playoffs. If not, vacation time, to enjoy what he’s accomplished after one fantastic year and to start preparing for next season with the PGA Tour card in hand.

Without going into further detail, Jordan Spieth won last year with a total of -20 and shot a 61 on the second day. Without a doubt, a score that can help us get an idea of what could happen this week.

In theory, Rahm, with the PGA Tour card already secured for next season since two weeks ago in Canada, will play with the sole objective of winning, which would allow him to earn the rights to play immediately, and thus, to participate in the FedEX Cup playoffs.

After the John Deere there would still be the last leg of the journey at the Wyndham Championship, last regular tournament of the PGA Tour.

Jon Rahm has concluded another notable week in the Travelers Championship, PGA Tour tournament held at TPC River Highlands in Connecticut.

Once again, the young Spanish golfer from Barrika made his way up to the top of the rankings for a good part of the tournament and it was only on the back nine on Sunday when the putter started to go cold, which kept him from being able to fight for the top ten in the end.

Be that as it may, he ended up in the top 25 and without having lost not one day on the course. In fact, of the four rounds, three were under par, one par. The outcome is quite remarkable. Furthermore, Jon left traces of his tremendous capability and solid game around the green, having made two shots from outside for birdie during the first three days.

But the action doesn’t stop there for the Spanish golfer. The next tournament he’ll play in is the John Deere Classic, which starts next Thursday on TPC Deere Run course.

Jon Rahm finished second in the RBC Canadian Open and has already secured the PGA Tour card for next season. The main objective was fulfilled just by graduating from Arizona State and after that, having become a professional after the Oakmont US Open is already in the bag.

Rahm didn’t even need a month to reach his goal. In four tournaments he has made an extraordinary feat capable by few. With the second place in Canada, the Spanish golfer has accumulated more than $800,000 already, a quantity that will put him well above 125º place on the PGA Tour winnings list when he finishes the regular season. Thus, mission accomplished and still three tournaments to be played in which to seek a victory, one of which slipped out from under his fingertips this Sunday

And Rahm did everything he could to take the win. He shot an incredible 67, with five birdies and no bogeys. And he had left great options for birdies along the way on the 13th, 15th and 17th holes. Even on the 16th he was about to land a stellar lobb for eagle. He was very close, although the reality is that there is very little to beat himself up about.

Apart from the PGA Tour, Rham has now gone up among the top 150 in the world after his second place win. His debut in the PGA Tour was explosive.

Next stop: Travelers Championship in two weeks.
