Rahm will play this Thursday starting at 6:06 pm (Spanish time) with American golfer, Patrick Cantlay, also a winner this year in the PGA Tour. As far as the amateurs, just like in last year’s edition, Rahm will compete with David Abeles, CEO of Taylormade, the brand that sponsors the Spanish golfer from Barrika.

The tournament is played on three separate courses in California, which means the cut will be established after the third round. The winner at Pebble Beach will be determined on Sunday. Rahm will play on Thursday on the Monterey Peninsula course, the second day on the Pebble Beach course, and Saturday on Spyglass.

Jon Rahm (-12) finished in fifth place in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, one of the most special tournaments of the PGA Tour season, both due to its unique format as well as where it’s staged. It’s the young golfer from Barrika’s fifth top 5 in nineteen tournaments of the PGA Tour. In other words, more than 25 percent of the time he’s ended up among the top five.

Rahm stood out among the crowd in this tournament played on three separate courses on the Monterey Peninsula in California where Pebble Beach took center stage. Jon started the week off playing on Spyglass, in very tough conditions with lots of wind and rain. He shot a 73, a great score in spite of the weather, although it did set him back a bit on the scoreboard.

The Spanish golfer played the next day on Pebble Beach. It was the big moment of the week. Not only did he shoot an outstanding 67, but he also made six birdies in a row between the 2nd and the 7th holes. He climbed over forty positions in the rankings and made it all the way up to the fight for the win. It wasn’t exactly an easy day. In fact, there were interruptions in the game due to fog.

He shot a fantastic 67 on Monterey Peninsula in an action packed-day. He made it into the top ten and got his foot in the door to fight for the win, although Jordan Spieth (final winner) shot up quickly to the leading position. Despite having been nine shots from the leader, Jon, once again on Pebble Beach, went out on the attack on Sunday to create options. He had another magnificent round of 68 shots, only dampered by a double bogey on the 3rd hole, after miss-hit on the second shot. He came in fifth in the end.

Another big week for Rahm, who is now in 37th place in the world rankings and sixth in the FedEX Cup. He walked away from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am as the golfer with the least bogeys, sure-fire sign of a solid game, and was also the one who hit the longest drive throughout the four days (first day on Spyglass: 368 yards) and stood out once again with his precision from tee to green.

Jon will now take a two-week break after playing in four consecutive tournaments: CareerBuilder, Farmers Insurance, Phoenix Open y AT&T Pro Am. Initially, he had planned on playing in the Genesis Open, but he decided not to in order to rest and prepare for the big event of the year in Mexico, within two weeks, the first World Championship of 2017.

Jon Rahm continues to have big weeks in his first complete season in the PGA Tour. Two weeks ago he won the Farmers Insurance Open and last week he played in Phoenix, at home, with the title under his belt, and now it’s time for him to experience Pebble Beach first-hand. It’s only the most legendary course in the world next to the Old Course at St. Andrews. Enough said.

Rahm will play this Thursday in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, PGA Tour tournament played in a special format. Amateurs and professionals compete at the same time, the majority are celebrities in the sports world and in general, and it’s held on three separate courses in California: Pebble Beach, Monterey Peninsula and Spyglass. The cut will take place on Saturday, after the third round, and once all the golfers have played on each one of the courses.

Rahm will start the tournament off on the Spyglass course, the most difficult of the three according to statistics accumulated over the years. Friday he’ll play on Pebble Beach and Saturday Monterey Peninsula, presumably the most accessible of the three. According to a study conducted by the PGA Tour, this sequence of courses is one of the most favorable, or least the most preferred among golfers.

Rahm will play this Thursday at 4:06 pm (Spanish time) with Andrew Loupe. The tee times in the first round were pushed up by an hour due to the bad weather forecast, lots of wind, with stretches that could reach up to 50 kilometers per hour and rain. The course that would be most affected by these unfavorable conditions would be Pebble Beach, due to its location, although it won’t be easy to go up against Spyglass in these conditions either.
Rahm will play in the tournament alongside CEO and president of Taylormade, David Abeles.
