This Friday marks the beginning of the second Playoff of the FedEx Cup, the Dell Technologies Championship, with Jon Rahm in the lineup. The golfer from Barrika will arrive to TPC Boston, Massachusetts, with his sights on the top 5 of the FedEx Cup, his main goal before reaching the grand finale in Atlanta within three weeks.
Rahm is right where he wants to be before competing in the Barclays, and the objective now will be to maintain that position or even to move up from there to the Tour Championship, FedEx Cup final event.
The main difficulty for the Spanish golfer will be his lack of knowledge on the course. Jon will play with the disadvantage of setting foot at TPC Boston for the first time, while the majority knows the lay of the land quite well, due to the fact that it’s been the headquarters to this tournament for eleven years now. Rahm will have to adjust in a race against the clock.
Keep in mind that this tournament is unique in that it starts on Friday and ends on Monday, as it coincides with Labor Day in the US. It will be the last Playoff with a cut (top 70 and ties), seeing as how the third Playoff and the Final are held over a period of four days.
Jon will arrive to Providence with the reassurance of having already secured his presence in all four Playoffs, although as we already mentioned, his goal is to go into the FedEx Cup Final in fifth place at East Lake, which means he cannot afford to let his guard down.
Rahm will also make his debut as fifth in the world this week, an astounding feat awarded to him after placing third in the Northern Trust Open.
