Jon Rahm will play in the Mutuactivos Open de España at the Club de Campo Villa in Madrid, on the Black Course, designed by Javier Arana. A special week for the Spanish golfer, seeing as how he’ll be playing in Spain for the second time this year, after taking second place in the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters at Valderrama this past June.

Jon has two important tasks at hand in this tournament. First, to defend the title from last year’s victory at the National Center. Not an easy feat by any means. In fact, nobody has won the Open de España twice in a row since the 60’s, since it’s been on the European Tour Calendar. The last one to do it was in the 50’as, British golfer, Max Faulkner.

Jon’s second task will be to move up to first place in the Race to Dubai. He’ll have the opportunity to do so with a good performance. He’s currently in second, trailing Shane Lowry. The Spanish and Irish golfers are within less than one hundred points of each other. In order to pass him up, Jon would have to finish the tournament in the top five.

Evidently, Rahm, who was in the presentation of the event at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium, will play in the main game of the day with Rafa Cabrera Bello and Adri Arnaus.
