Jon Rahm is back at Torrey Pines, and that’s always a good time. It’s no surprise, as it was here where he won his first PGA Tour tournament in the year 2017.
It was in San Diego where he unleashed his fury in a full-blown war at the exclusive PGA Tour winners club.
The golfer from Barrika will always hold a very special memory from this tournament, that sweet victory and, above all, that fantastic winning eagle putt that he landed on the 18th hole at Torrey Pines.
However, he’s got an even bigger incentive this year. Rahm has been paired with Tiger in the first two rounds. Playing any day of the week alongside one of the best golfers of all time, if not the best, is always special, and even more so for the Spanish golfer whom, on multiple occasions, has professed that the golfer from California is one of his idols.
However, it’s even more exciting at Torrey Pines, where Tiger has won on seven different occasions, including the US Open in 2008, all of which confirm that this is most certainly not just any other week. And pay close attention, because every time Tiger and Jon’s paths cross, things happen.
The first time they came up against one another was in the Ryder Cup in 2018 in Paris, with Jon’s the epic win in singles play, and the second time was in the Hero World Challenge that same year. They didn’t play together, but it’s Tiger’s tournament, and Jon took home the win. And the third time was in the first two rounds of the Masters at Augusta. Woods and Rahm played together, and Tiger finished out the week by suiting up with a new Green Jacket that Sunday. It’s going to be one exciting, explosive week, to say the least.
