The Basque star led his team, Legion XIII, with authority to a convincing victory at LIV Golf México, held on the always demanding layout of Club de Golf Chapultepec.
The event, played from April 25 to 27 at the historic Mexican venue, witnessed another stellar performance from Legion XIII, the team captained and spearheaded by Rahm. And truth be told, few performances could have been more emphatic. With a solid, precise game that was finely tuned to the course’s particular demands, Rahm showed once again why he is considered one of the best players in the world.
Although the team format brings a different dynamic—where every player’s shot has collective weight—Rahm embraced the challenge with the commitment and intensity that define his game. The Spaniard looked particularly comfortable navigating Chapultepec’s tree-lined, high-altitude design, delivering consistent rounds over the three days (-7, -2, -3) and setting the pace for his teammates: Tyrrell Hatton, Caleb Surratt, and Tom McKibbin.
Special mention must be made of the chemistry that clearly exists between the team members. Hatton, with his trademark competitive fire, was in contention throughout (he finished fifth), while Surratt—one of the circuit’s rising young stars—and McKibbin provided the stability needed to complete the winning formula.
The result: Legion XIII claimed the team title convincingly, finishing at -28, two shots ahead of the Ripper team. For Rahm, who has never hidden his pride in representing a team and leading in high-pressure situations, the victory in Mexico was an exciting confirmation of what this project can become.
Beyond the win itself, LIV Golf México left the impression that Jon Rahm hasn’t joined LIV just to compete—but to build something lasting and meaningful in this new phase of his career. And if the performance at Chapultepec is any indication, Legion XIII has arrived in LIV Golf with a clear aim: to contend at the very top. Rahm himself finished fourth in the individual standings, once again in the mix for the win.
