The player from Barrika finished runner-up at LIV Golf Indianapolis after producing a superb final-round 63 and captained Legion XIII to their second consecutive Team Championship. Rahm ends 2026 with the season’s two major titles: the Individual Championship and the team crown.

Jon Rahm brought the curtain down on the 2026 LIV Golf season in perfect fashion in Indianapolis. The Legion XIII captain, who had already mathematically secured his third consecutive Individual Championship in New York, added the Team Championship alongside Tyrrell Hatton, Caleb Surratt and Tom McKibbin. It was a hugely significant double —individual and team champion— that completed another outstanding campaign.

It was certainly not a routine final event for Jon. Rahm fought until the last hole to add the LIV Golf Indianapolis individual title to his collection. He opened the tournament at The Club at Chatham Hills with consecutive rounds of 67, three under par, to reach the halfway point at six under. Legion XIII, meanwhile, began the week in second place in the team standings, just two shots off the lead.

On Saturday, Jon stepped up the pace with a round of 66. He began the final day at ten under par, three shots behind leader Michael La Sasso and still firmly in contention in a tightly packed leaderboard. At the same time, Legion XIII completed their comeback in the team competition and moved into first place at 34 under, one shot ahead of HyFlyers GC.

Rahm launched a magnificent charge in the final round. He signed for a seven-under-par 63 and climbed the leaderboard to put himself right in the battle for victory. The Spaniard, who had started his round on the second hole, made birdie at the par-five 18th to move into the outright lead.

Only the first hole, his final hole of the championship, remained. There, he was unable to save par from just over three metres and closed with a bogey that left him tied with La Sasso. The young American responded shortly afterwards with a birdie on the 18th to win at 18 under. Rahm finished second on 17 under, only one shot behind the champion, after rounds of 67, 67, 66 and 63.

“Michael earned it. It is frustrating, but I am happy with all the good things I did this week to give myself a chance,” Jon said after narrowly missing out on the individual victory.

Legion XIII reign again

The reward came in the team competition. Legion XIII started the final round with a one-shot advantage and produced a spectacular start. In barely 90 minutes, Rahm, Hatton, Surratt and McKibbin had provisionally stretched their lead to ten shots.

Jon’s team completed the day with a combined score of ten under par and finished the championship at 44 under, six shots ahead of HyFlyers GC and eight clear of Ripper GC. Legion XIII therefore successfully defended the Team Championship they won in 2025 and secured the title for the second consecutive season.

The victory completed Rahm’s great double in 2026. The Spaniard ended the year as individual champion for the third consecutive season and team champion for the second year in a row. In his first three years in LIV Golf, he has collected three Individual Championships, four individual tournament victories, two Team Championships and ten regular-season wins with Legion XIII. That makes a total of 19 trophies and establishes him as the most decorated player in LIV Golf history.

Next stop: the Amgen Irish Open

Jon will now change circuits and return to the DP World Tour. His next appearance will be at the Amgen Irish Open, which will be played from September 10 to 13 at Trump International Golf Links Ireland in Doonbeg, County Clare.

Rahm has a very special relationship with the Irish championship. He has already won it twice: at Portstewart Golf Club in 2017 and Lahinch Golf Club in 2019. The Barrika native will return to Ireland aiming to contend for a third title in one of the most prestigious national opens on the European calendar.
