Today marks the start of one of the most exciting stretches of the season for Jon Rahm. The FedEx Cup playoffs begin. The Northern Trust Open will be held on the Ridgewood course in New Jersey, and that’s where Jon Rahm will be.

The golfer from Barrika will compete in the second playoffs of his career. The goal is to finish the same as last year, in his first complete season in the PGA Tour, which is to make it to the Tour Championship, the grand finale of the playoffs, among the top five in the rankings. Those five golfers are the ones who will solely depend on themselves to win the FedEx Cup.

Rahm will play with Patrick Cantlay and Patton Kizzire throughout the first two days. He’s currently in 13th place in the FedEx Cup, which means he has all four playoffs secured. That being said, he needs to focus on climbing his way up to move into the top five spots.

Rahm will play on Thursday in the afternoon and Friday in the morning. This playoff as well as the following both have cuts. The top 100 in the FedEx Cup will qualify for the second round of playoffs, and the top 70 will go on to the third.

Rahm will go into the Northern Trust after having played in the PGA Championship, where he made it to Sunday with the possibility of winning. At the moment, he’s completely focused on the playoffs, although the butterflies from the excitement of the Ryder Cup, which is just over a month away, will surely sneak up on him.
