Jon Rahm will kick off the 2018 season this Thursday. Christmas break is over and it’s back to the drawing board. And what better way than with a tournament, the Sentry Tournament of Champions, that brings the majority of the best golfers in the world together. The five best players on the planet and seven of the top ten will be competing on the Kapalua course.
Rahm’s presence alone in this grand event is already reminiscent of how incredible last year was, seeing as how this Hawaiian tournament is reserved exclusively for champions of tournaments from the last PGA Tour season. Jon secured his spot with the unforgettable putt on the 18th hole of the Farmers Insurance Open, just short of a year ago now.
Rahm will play in this opening tournament with Australian golfer Marc Leishman, at least for the first two rounds. It will be the first time in the PGA that Jon will be compared to the star golfers of the American tour. Without a doubt, extra motivation on a course, the Kapalua, especially generous with the power hitters, which in theory should be to the Spanish golfer’s advantage, although to his disadvantage is the fact that it’s the first time he’ll play on this course, while most of his rivals have already gotten to know it quite well.
Rahm will play starting at eleven thirty at night Spanish time, 12:30 local Hawaiian time.
